Surgical services grow at Hillcrest Rockhampton Private

Oct 08, 2018

A $6.7 million hospital expansion was officially opened at Hillcrest Rockhampton Private Hospital on 5 October.

Patients, staff and visitors will benefit from new facilities including:
• A state-of-the-art Stryker Integrated Orthopaedic Operating Theatre
• A new Day of Surgery Admission Lounge
• New spacious ensuites for Surgical Ward (conversion from shared to single)
• An expansion to the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD), Staff Room and Supply Area
• An upgrade to the Talford Lane car park

Hillcrest Rockhampton Private Hospital CEO, Fiona Hebbard, said this was a very exciting development as it allowed the hospital to grow surgical services across its specialties.

“The new state-of-the-art orthopaedic operating theatre will provide Central Queensland patients with timely access to private orthopaedic services. It is complemented by four orthopaedic surgeons, an onsite Plaster Fracture Clinic and Occupational Therapy Hand Clinic.”

The expansion of the CSSD includes additional sterilisation equipment and larger facilities to support the increased theatre activity.

All surgical patient admissions will now be conducted in the new Day of Surgery Admission Lounge prior to surgery. The Surgical Ward has been renovated to provide private bathrooms in each
of the single rooms which offer a more comfortable and private atmosphere for patients.

The Talford Lane car park has also been upgraded to provide plenty of on-campus parking, promoting easy access to the hospital.

“The demand for our services is constantly growing and it is wonderful that patients are able to access private health care locally. We are committed to further develop and improve health services to accommodate patient demand across the region.”

“The new development has created additional clinical and hospital service roles which is a great boost to our city.”
