After finishing his medical studies at the University of Newcastle, David completed his initial Physician training at Tamworth, St Vincent's and Liverpool Hospitals in Sydney.  He then undertook advanced training in Renal Medicine with Liverpool, Royal Prince Alfred and Westmead Hospitals in Sydney.  His training included General and Interventional Nephrology, Transplantation (kidney, kidney-pancreas and islet cell), dialysis and Obstetric medicine.  He is especially interested in Interventional Nephrology and dialysis therapies, but his scope of practice is broad and includes assessment of potential live kidney donors, care of transplant patients, acute and chronic kidney disease and hypertension.

David works as a Consultant Physician with Albury Wodonga Health, looking after patients with a broad range of acute medical problems.  He also provides a General Medicine service at Albury Wodonga Private Hospital.  He is an honorary Consultant Nephrologist at Royal Melbourne Hospital and works closely with the renal unit there.

David is the Director of Physician Education at Albury Wodonga Health, and lectures at the Rural Clinical School of the University of New South Wales, where he has received several awards for teaching.  He is the Chairman of the Rural Interest Group and a member of the Special Interest Group in Interventional Nephrology, both under the umbrella of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Nephrology.
