Dr Ellis Choy is an Australian trained, dually qualified General Surgen and Plastic Surgeon. Dr Choy has double surgical fellowships from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in both general surgery (with a focus in breast & skin oncology) as well as plastic & reconstructive surgery (with a focus in face, breast & body works).
Dr Choy graduated from the University of Sydney in 1997 and then completed postgraduate studies in general surgery at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. He gained his first fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2004. That same year he completed training by attaining fellowships in both breast surgery (at the Sydney Breast Cancer Institute) and surgical oncology at the Sydney Melanoma Unit, now Melanoma Institute Australia. He was also selected for advanced surgical training in plastic & reconstructive surgery in Australia.
In 2005 he was awarded the National Breast Cancer Foundation scholarship for completing his Master of Surgery thesis on patient preferences in multidisciplinary breast care.
After completing his plastic surgery training, Dr Choy obtained his second FRACS fellowship in plastic surgery in 2010. That same year, he also completed his plastic surgery fellowship at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide with a focus on both reconstructive & cosmetic breast plastic surgery and related body contouring works. This was followed by his aesthetic facial plastic surgery fellowship under the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, in both surgical & non-surgical cosmetic facial procedures.
Dr Choy is a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the International Confederation of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (IPRAS).
