Mr Brouwer is a consultant General Surgeon and member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand with an interest in colorectal surgery, diagnostic procedures, laparoscopic, and open surgery of the lower gastrointestinal tract.

Mr Brouwer completed his medical training in Australia in 1994, and his specialist training as a general surgeon in 2005. After completing his general surgery, he did post-fellowship training in colorectal surgery in Australia, New Zealand and the UK before returning to practice in Melbourne.

Currently appointed to consultant positions at Austin Health and St. Vincent's Hospital, Mr Brouwer's private operating is performed at Warringal Private Hospital in Heidelberg or St. Vincent's Private Hospital.

He clinical interests include colonoscopy, laparoscopic colorectal surgery, inflammatory bowel disease and sacral nerve stimulation for pelvic floor disorders.
