The Senate has 84 members including medical, nursing and allied health clinicians from the public and private sectors, along with representatives from Health Consumers Queensland. Dr Rosengren said the Senate was about connecting clinicians to improve care. ‘The Senate provides a forum for clinicians to work together on a range of clinical issues and develop strategies that will safeguard and promote the best care for Queenslanders,’ David said. ‘I am very privileged to have been appointed Chair and to work with a group of committed and skilled senior clinicians from around the state.’ The new Senate met on 26-27 March 2015 to discuss, ‘The clinical imperative for seven day healthcare delivery’. The interventional cardiology lab has the Artis Q floor system with a 25cm x 25cm detector head, while the new Electrophysiology/Vascular lab has an Artis Q Bi-plane system with 50cm x 35 cm detector heads. The Bi-Plane reduces the amount of contrast used in procedures, reduces procedure times, and, with the low-dose radiation protocols imbedded in the system, ensures minimal radiation exposure to patients, staff and VMOs. It enables future growth and diversification in the Cath Lab arena, enabling more complex and difficult procedures to be undertaken. The Bi-plane Lab had its official opening night on Tuesday night 21st April. hestaawards.com.au *Proudly sponsored by: Proudly presented by: 2014 winners, left to right: Zoe Sabri, Stephen Brown and Prof Jeanine Young.
