Ramsay meets needs for treatment of eating disorders Kareena opens new surgical wing The Ramsay Way - 2014 | 04 5 A 21 BED EATING DISORDERS UNIT WILL BE A MAJOR NEW ADDITION TO AN EXPANSION CURRENTLY UNDERWAY AT NORTHSIDE WEST CLINIC. The $8 million expansion sees the Western Sydney hospital grow from 43 to 73 beds and includes construction of 30 private single rooms with ensuites and a refurbishment of the hospital’s communal areas. With waiting lists for eating disorders getting longer, Clinic CEO Anne Mortimer said the new expanded service would be welcomed by those trying to access these services. “There is a growing need for private mental health services and in particular treatment for eating disorders with our waiting lists getting longer,” said Anne who is also CEO of three other Sydney psychiatric clinics which make up The Northside Group. “Combined with our services for eating disorders at our other facilities, his expansion means that The Northside Group will have the largest, dedicated eating disorders service in Australia.” In addition to the 21-bed eating disorders unit, the expanded Northside West Clinic will also include a 22 drug and alcohol unit and 30 general acute beds. Dialysis Unit opens at Pindara PINDARA PRIVATE HOSPITAL HAS RECENTLY OPENED A FOUR CHAIR DIALYSIS UNIT AT THE HOSPITAL WHICH WILL IMPROVE ACCESS TO PRIVATE DIALYSIS SERVICES FOR PRIVATE PATIENTS ON THE GOLD COAST. The new unit opens ahead of the 30 bed rehabilitation unit due to open at Pindara in February 2015 and follows Ramsay Health Care’s significant investment in the hospital over the last five years. A BRAND NEW 36 BED SURGICAL WARD AT KAREENA PRIVATE HOSPITAL HAS BEEN FULLY OCCUPIED WITH SATISFIED PATIENTS SINCE IT’S OPENING IN MID-NOVEMBER. Hospital CEO Steve Rajcany said feedback from patients on the new ward, which is fitted with new equipment and finished with modern décor, has been overwhelmingly positive. Local MP, Mr Scott Morrison marked the official opening with a private tour of the new surgical ward. Mr Morrison was impressed with the enhanced services and hotel quality rooms. In an interview with the local newspaper, Kareena orthopaedic surgeon Dr Anthony Leong said the hospital worked closely with the surgeons when designing the new ward. “For years we have provided world class surgical services; now we can provide world-class accommodation”, said Dr Leong. The construction of the new ward with 36 private rooms was part of a $23 million redevelopment at Kareena. The final stage of the transformation entails turning the existing 18 bed surgical ward into an intensive care unit that is on schedule for completion in March 2015.
