Free medical treatment by Premier Bintaro Hospital For the fifth time, Premier Bintaro in cooperation with the Immanuel Church conducted free medical treatment on May 15, 2014 at Immanuel Church area, Bintaro Jaya for a total of 700 participants. This involved three general practitioners and five nurses. This event has been arranged on a regular basis as a reflection of the hospital’s commitment to provide medical services required for less fortunate society. 12 The Ramsay Way - 2014 | 02 OURCOMMUNITY Urogynaecologists introduce train the trainer workshop in Ghana Greenslopes Private Hospital Urogynaecologists, Prof Judith Goh AO and Dr Hannah Krause organised a workshop in Ghana, West Africa to upskill local health practitioners. Urogynaecology as a subspecialty of gynaecology is in its infancy in Ghana, and assistance was sought to train local health practitioners. Women with urinary incontinence, vaginal prolapse and genital tract fistula (urethra/bladder/anorectal) were assessed and treated during the workshop. At times conditions were challenging with the hot humid climate and unreliable water and electricity supply. The participants however, were very enthusiastic learners. Greenslopes Private Hospital was pleased to be able to support this initiative with the donation of medical equipment to enable the surgical skills component of the meeting to take place. Warners Bay Private hosts “Farmer wants a life” Following a story on TV program “Sunday Night” earlier this year, Warners Bay Private Hospital decided to get behind an initiative supporting Aussie farmers during the current tough times. Sunday Night profiled the group “Aussie Helpers” which was established to help fight poverty and lift the spirits of those severely affected by drought in the outback. With a theme entitled “Farmer wants a Life”, all staff of Warners Bay Private got involved, with the hospital hosting dress-up days, selling cupcakes and biscuits, holding a raffle and accepting direct donations. The Hospital raised $5000 for this great cause. Beds for PNG, gowns & ventilators for Vietnam & Philippines Ramsay Health Care’s medical equipment donations partner Rotary Berrima have coordinated the delivery of four ICU beds from a Ramsay Queensland hospital to PNG recently. In addition, the Club has distributed containers of gowns, ventilators and anaesthetic machines to Hanoi, Vietnam and Cagayan de Oro, Philippines. The tremendous support for this program by Rotary clubs across Australia is the driving force behind making these donations a reality. With the high cost of shipping, clubs have been able to share resources and maximise space in containers as well as reducing warehousing costs. The oldest of the hospital’s volunteers Marjorie Bray, 92, says she donates her time weekly at the hospital in between a hectic social schedule which includes lunch with her kindergarten friend Gwen – also born in 1922. June Straney, 79, jokes she is “the spring chicken” of the group, and the retired nurse volunteers weekly at St George Private. “Our volunteers make an enormous difference to the lives of our patients and staff by generously donating their time to meet and greet patient visitors; assisting staff in administrative tasks and providing companionship to patients post day surgery,” says St George Private CEO Peter Ridley. RAMSAYINDONESIA 25th Anniversary of Premier Jatinegara Hospital On March 25, 2014 Premier Jatinegara Hospital celebrated its 25th Anniversary. Mr Dr. Dato Jacob and Mr Kevin Cass-Ryall joined the celebration and presented the 25 years service awards to 30 specialists, GPs, and 13 employees. Premier Jatinegara Hospital new angiography unit On March 15, 2014 the new angiography unit equipped with the latest technology, was opened in the Catheter Laboratory of Premier Jatinegara Hospital. The new service will include cardiology, neurology and vascular services. Fay retires after 32 years with Ramsay Ramsay EN Fay Gardner recently retired after 21 years at Ramsay’s Baringa Private Hospital and 11 years at Ramsay’s Tamara Private Hospital. She is one of Ramsay Health Care’s longest serving employees.
