New jobs and hospital beds at Kareena Private

November 09, 2018

Construction has started on a $12 million project to expand health care facilities and create job opportunities at Kareena Private Hospital in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire.

Patients will benefit from 38 new private rooms – including a new ward for those who are admitted to hospital – which includes both surgical and medical beds.

Steven Rajcany, CEO of Kareena Private Hospital, said it was important to create more single room accommodation in order to cater for the demands and expectations of patients and their families.

“We are pleased to be growing our surgical and medical services to further increase our capacity to care for the Sutherland community – as we have been doing for more than 50 years,” Mr Rajcany  said.

“This additional accommodation, coupled with our six operating theatres, day surgery unit and intensive care unit – means patients can seek all aspects of their treatment needs without having to leave
the Shire.”

“It’s also a win for the community in terms of local employment opportunities. Once complete, this project will create an additional 15 to 20 full-time nursing, administrative and support service jobs.

The new development builds on a $23 million dollar investment at the hospital in 2014, which was the site’s largest expansion to date.

Building works are expected to take approximately 12 months to complete.
