During his visit, Mr Sims was shown the comprehensive cancer centre, which is due to open in March 2020 giving Western Australians better access to leading edge cancer treatments and extensive clinical trials.

Remarkably, more than 750,000 cubic kilograms of concrete and 662,000 kilograms of steel have been used on the project so far. This includes 1.8 metre thick concrete walls and ceilings where two radiation bunkers are being built. 

The comprehensive cancer centre will form part of the new Hollywood Consulting Centre, a broader project that will see the establishment of four new endoscopy suites, 37 new consulting rooms and a 280 bay multi story car park.

Mr Sims was also shown the mental health expansion, which will include the establishment of 31 inpatient beds and a new mental health day hospital due to open in July 2020.
