Ben Jeffcote is a Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon with a focus on hip, knee and ankle. He is a fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and is currently Head of Orthopaedics at Rockingham General Hospital. Mr Jeffcote’s interest in orthopaedic surgery came from a fascination with how the musculoskeletal system works. Over two decades he has studied lower limb biomechanics and the effects of injury, degeneration and deformity.
Background & Training
Dr. Ben Jeffcote hails from the UK and pursued his medical education both in the UK and Australia. His orthopaedic journey began when he entered the Orthopaedic Training Program in Western Australia in 2003. During this period, he demonstrated his commitment to advancing the field by completing an AOA research fellowship focused on the biomechanics of the knee.
Post-training, Dr. Jeffcote continued his professional development through specialized training in knee and lower limb surgery in Bristol, UK. Currently serving as a Fellow and WA Scientific Convenor of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, he actively contributes to the orthopaedic community.
Dr. Jeffcote has undertaken research projects exploring knee replacement biomechanics, knee ligament balance, and patellofemoral kinematics. With twelve research papers published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, he has become a respected voice in the orthopaedic research community. Dr. Jeffcote has also presented his findings at numerous state, national, and international scientific meetings.
His current research interests include Navio techniques in knee cartilage reconstruction, outcomes of arthroscopic meniscal surgery, and the impact of robotic assistance on partial knee arthroplasty. Driven by a passion for innovation and improvement, Dr. Ben Jeffcote continues to contribute significantly to the advancement of orthopaedic surgery.
