Dr Terry Holt is Gastroenterologist and hepatologist based full-time in the Ipswich area since 2005

Dr Holt began his career as analytical chemist . He joined the Children’s Nutrition Research Centre, Royal Children’s Hospital, where he worked from 1983 to 1992. He became a Senior Research Fellow and completed a Ph. D in the metabolic consequences of chronic disease at the Royal Children’s Hospital and University of Queensland in 1990. During this time he authored over two dozen papers in this field and was a visiting researcher at the MRC Dunn Nutrition Centre, Cambridge University, and The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London. He served on the University of Queensland animal and ethics committee from 1987 to 1990 and was a member of the WHO International Atomic Energy Agency Committee for the application of stable isotopes to medical research. He held numerous research grants in the field.

Dr Holt completed his medical training at the University of Queensland in 1997. He completed his advanced training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in 2004. His interest include all aspects of general gastroenterology and hepatology, with a special interest in bowel cancer prevention.

Dr Holt consults in Ipswich, providing inpatient care and performs diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy at St. Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital
