Dr Cheriya Abdulla is a senior consultant in Paediatrics with over 30 years’ experience. He currently serves as a specialist Paediatrician in Ipswich West Moreton region consulting privately at St. Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital and a senior staff specialist Paediatrician at Ipswich General Hospital. Besides his training & experience in UK & Australia and India he has had short training from USA and Japan After completing five years of training in paediatrics and neonatology in India, Dr Abdulla completed further training and experience in paediatrics in London UK. Dr Abdulla worked as Consultant Paediatrician in the BHR University Hospital London for 10 years, before re-locating to Australia. He was a senior lecturer, tutor for RCPCH London, UK, senior staff specialist / Clinical Director in Rockhampton Base hospital, QLD health, visiting Paediatrician Mater hospital and Greenslopes Hospital, and VMO and Staff specialist in NSW health.
Dr Abdulla has interests and extensive experience in Neonatology, acute paediatrics including paediatric emergencies, behaviour and developmental paediatrics. He is proficient in managing children with difficult medical problems, obesity, behavioural problems, chronic abdominal pain and chronic constipation. Dr.Abdulla has a keen interest in education and is a senior lecturer at The University of Queensland. In 2016 he was awarded a teaching excellence award. Dr.Abdulla has presented many papers in international meetings in London, Dubai, Australia, and India etc. Currently he is a RACP supervisor for trainees in paediatrics and peer reviewer of overseas trained paediatricians.
During his consultations he enjoys teaching medical students, junior doctors, trainees in paediatrics With his previous experience in education of GP’s and the community he is available to give education presentations to GP practices and interested parent groups.
