HOSPITAL NEWS Over 14,000 Ramsay employees completed the survey representing a 53% response rate. The results show that 64% of Ramsay employees are “engaged” which is well above the Australia & New Zealand average benchmark of 57%. The engagement of our people is consistent across our states indicating strong levels of committment to our organisation. The level of employee engagement was measured through six core questions which focused on whether the employee would “say” good things about Ramsay; demonstrated a strong sense of connectedness to “stay” with Ramsay and would continuously “strive” to do their best and be the best they could be. Key engagement questions included in the survey were those that related to whether an employee would refer the organisation to a friend for employment; thought about leaving the organisation; told others how great it is to work at Ramsay; and how the organisation inspires and motivates its employees. Importantly, Ramsay employees responded positively to The Ramsay Way questions in the survey with 74% of employees believing that the organisation displayed integrity and a caring and progressive culture. Employees who responded positively to The Ramsay Way were four times more likely to be engaged. The greatest strengths of the organisation were teamwork and collaboration; manager effectiveness and work processes and resourcing. Ramsay Australia CEO Danny Sims said he was very pleased with the results. “Our overall engagement score shows that we outperform 70% of other Australia and New Zealand organisations,” Danny said. “Particularly pleasing was the fact that 80% of our nursing leadership is highly engaged. Nurse managers are an integral part of our business and ensuring that staff feel valued so this is very pleasing. “However, there are areas for improvement and we will work on these. We identified through the survey that we need to work harder on communication, employee recognition and building trust. We aim to work harder on these areas and perform much better in the next survey.” Growth & stakeholder loyalty THE GREATEST STRENGTHS OF THE ORGANISATION WERE: Teamwork & collaboration Manager effectiveness Work processes & resourcing GLOBAL HEALTHCARE 63% ANZ AVERAGE 57% RAMSAY PEOPLE LEADERS (MANAGERS) 78% N=1029 RAMSAY SENIOR LEADERSHIP (HOSPITAL & CORPORATE EXECUTIVE) 92% N=146 ENGAGEMENT SCORES THE RAMSAY WAY INDEX 75% 74% 74% 73% 66% 65%
