RAMSAY AUSTRALIA CEO REPORT I am pleased to be writing in my first edition of The Ramsay Way as Chief Executive Officer of Ramsay Australia. Following the separation of the Ramsay Australia and Ramsay Global offices, we decided to revert The Ramsay Way newsletter to an Australian edition but retain news from our international operations – much the same as currently occurs in France and the United Kingdom. I am therefore taking over this column from our Managing Director Chris Rex, and look forward to providing news about the Australian operations. It has been an amazing year of achievements once again for the Ramsay Australian business including the opening of a new facility, Kingsway Day Surgery, in The Shire; the opening of our first new emergency department for many years in Lake Macquarie; and the completion of a major development at Hollywood Private Hospital recently which, with 750 beds, takes it to being one of the largest private hospitals in the country. In January 2016, we will open our newest facility, Wollongong Private Hospital – a 151 bed private hospital – the only one of its type in Wollongong. In total, by the end of June next year, Ramsay Australia will have delivered in excess of 30 projects; over 1000 beds and 40 theatres during the past two fiscal years. Our new Ramsay Australia Executive team has been appointed this year and are working through some new initiatives like those covered in this edition of The Ramsay Way – the new app for doctors which will provide real-time patient information to clinicians; and the new waiting time clock for emergency departments. We continue to achieve excellent outcomes in workplace health and safety; accreditation of hospitals against the new national standards and performance against key clinical indicators. I am pleased to announce in this edition of The Ramsay Way that Kate Munnings will be joining our Executive team in the New Year as our new Chief Operating Officer. Kate comes to us from a Logistics, Consulting and Construction business, where she was responsible for 9,500 employees across a range of service areas. Kate is a lawyer and a former nurse. She will commence with Ramsay Australia on 18 January and I am looking forward to introducing Kate to everyone when she begins. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the staff and doctors across Ramsay Australia and your families, a very safe and happy Christmas. It has been a great year for a great Company and I feel privileged to know and work with all of you. Danny Sims CEO, Ramsay Australia 2 The Ramsay Way 2015 | 03 DEVELOPMENTS MyPatient will help doctors to access information about their patients in Ramsay Health Care hospitals. Professor John Horvath AO The MyPatient+ App will provide doctors with the opportunity to view up-to-date information on the location of their patients; demographic information; care team members; theatre schedules; and admission details using their own mobile device. Ramsay Australia CEO Danny Sims said the app will allow clinicians to focus their time and effort on patient care and will significantly enhance their experience in Ramsay hospitals. MyPatient+ is currently available for public download in the Apple App Store and the Google Play App Store. While the app is currently in pilot phase across six hospitals, Ramsay Chief Information Officer John Sutherland said he expected it to become available to all doctors in all hospitals from February 2016. “Doctors working in a Ramsay hospital will be able to request access to the MyPatient+ App via the hospital management team,” John said. “This first version of MyPatient+ app addresses a number of common, yet long standing requests from doctors working in all Australian hospitals, making patient information available at their fingertips. “More importantly, it also lays the foundation for Ramsay’s capability in building a feature-rich digital mobile platform. “We envisage the Business Steering Group, led by Lloyd Hill (Operation Executive Manager) and consisting of representative CEOs and Directors of Medical Services from various hospitals across the country, will guide future enhancements and evolution of this doctor-centric mobile app, ensuring it is “hyper-relevant” to our doctors.” Ramsay Health Care Announces Appointment of Professor John Horvath Ramsay Health Care has announced the appointment of Professor John Horvath AO to the newly created role of Strategic Medical Advisor for the Company.
