DEVELOPMENTS The Ramsay Way - 2015 | 01 3 Ramsay opens new Day Surgery in the Shire RAMSAY HEALTH CARE HAS OPENED A NEW $6.5 MILLION DAY SURGERY IN MIRANDA TO SERVICE THE GROWING HEALTHCARE NEEDS OF THE SUTHERLAND SHIRE. The new Kingsway Day Surgery occupies one floor of a large medical precinct and will operate as a dedicated day surgery centre providing a range of specialist services including eye surgery; gastroenterology; urology; dermatology and plastic and reconstructive surgery. The Centre boasts two operating theatres with state-of- the-art medical equipment and two specialised treatment rooms. The two additional treatment rooms have been designed specifically for minor procedures. “With a focused and specialised approach, Kingsway Day Surgery expects to meet the demands of the Shires growing population providing local, accessible treatment in a new modernized facility,” said CEO Steven Rajcany. “We opened for business on 22 January and already a number of patients have experienced the new facility and its services. Kingsway Day Surgery holds full accreditation under the National Safety, Quality and Health Service Standards,” he said. Ideally located close to Kareena Private Hospital, also operated by Ramsay Health Care, the Kingsway Day Surgery will provide enhanced medical services for the Sutherland Shire community and expand on an already comprehensive range of medical, surgical, maternity and rehabilitation services currently found at Kareena Private Hospital. “The Centre has also been a boon for employment in the region with 30 newly employed staff commencing at the facility in January, across various disciplines, as well as introducing a new and exceptional team of doctors to the region.” Masada commences new rehab development RAMSAY HEALTH CARE HAS OFFICIALLY COMMENCED THE CONSTRUCTION OF A $10 MILLION REHABILITATION UNIT AT MASADA PRIVATE HOSPITAL. THE FIRST SOD ON THIS DEVELOPMENT WAS TURNED RECENTLY AT A CEREMONY ATTENDED BY RAMSAY’S AUSTRALIAN CEO DANNY SIMS & THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GLEN EIRA, JIM MAGEE. The new unit will be comprised of 30 private rooms each with their own ensuite; patient recreation areas; clinician support areas and a gymnasium. The development is designed to cater for a substantial percentage of the orthopaedic rehabilitation needs across the Bayside area of Melbourne. Masada, Linacre Private Hospital and The Avenue Hospital each have a high orthopaedic component to their case mix and all are located in the catchment for the new unit. The development will be built over the existing car park at the front of the hospital and, to support the increased facilities, an additional level of car parking will be constructed. Speaking at the turning of the sod ceremony, CEO Lisa Carter said: “The planning of a development such as this is a huge opportunity for Masada Private Hospital and a privilege for myself or any CEO. “One of the valuable parts of the planning phase has been the generous sharing of learnings and ideas from our colleagues at Donvale Rehabilitation Hospital which recently opened a new unit. Input from the team at Donvale has been invaluable in our planning.” Construction is being undertaken by ADCO Constructions and will take 12 months.
