This year’s meeting welcomed the management team from Clinique de l’Union. Ramsay Chairman Paul Ramsay and Executive Chris Rex and Craig McNally attended and presented at the conference. Anniversary Celebration ramsay SPRING 2013 TRW 9 ramsay UK The summer season has hit at Oaks Hospital as it establishes an agreement to provide medical services to the crew of Royal Caribbean cruise liners. The hospital is providing care and treatment for the crew of two ships, the Celebrity Infinity and the Brilliance of the Seas, when docking at Harwich International Port. The liners have a crew of approximately 1500 each who remain on board throughout the working season of May to October. Working with the Director of Medical Operations for Royal Caribbean and members of his team, the partnership with the Oaks Hospital is successfully developing and serving a wide range of patient needs on both a self-pay outpatient and inpatient basis. Oaks Hospital’s General Manager, Vanessa Childs said: “The team involved have worked hard to establish smooth processes and procedures in order for the Oaks Hospital to effectively serve the needs of the Royal Caribbean crew members. This sometimes means working with very short lead times but with the support of the consultants and our sister units the patients have been seen and treated as necessary for them to return to work on the board their ship.” Premier Bintaro launches Vascular Centre 68th Indonesia In May 2013, Premier Bintaro Hospital launched the new Vascular Centre of Excellence. This Centre essentially encompasses the ability to provide comprehensive and absolute treatment for many vascular diseases. Dr. Juniwati Gunawan, Chief Executive Officer of Premier Bintaro Hospital launched the Vascular Centre with vascular specialists Dr Suhartono, Sp.B. (K) V, and Rodney A. White, MD (Associate Chairman, Department of Surgery and Director Vascular Surgery Residency Program, Harbor-UCLA Medical Centre). Premier Bintaro Hospital held a round table discussion titled “Endovascular Update” following the official launch. The topic of discussion was “Endovascular Update” led by Dr White. Various specialists attended this event as well as doctors from Premier Bintaro Hospital, corporate client doctors and other clinic doctors from surrounding areas” In celebrating the 68th Anniversary of The Republic of Indonesia on August 17, 2013, Premier Jatinegara Hospital held a Pinang Climbing Competition for employees and community. There were three pinang trees climbed by 18 teams. Each teams consists of five people. Atop the three trees there were bicycles, rice cookers, umbrellas, and other prizes to be won. INDONESIA Sailing into partnership with Royal Caribbean Olympian opens paediatric unit at Berkshire Independent Hospital Olympic Gold Medallist Rower Andy Triggs Hodge joined the staff and paediatric consultants, at the official opening of Ramsay UK’s Berkshire Independent Hospital’s dedicated Paediatric Unit. Children from the local school, who entered a drawing competition themed ‘Dream home’, won the opportunity to attend this occasion, together with book tokens and enjoyed afternoon tea and cakes with Andy and the chance to clutch his Olympic medal. The winning drawings will be permanently on display in the dedicated Paediatric Unit. General Manager James Barr said: ‘We are delighted that Andy was able to join us to mark this important event for the Hospital. We look forward to treating children from Berkshire and the surrounding areas in a child-friendly and comfortable environment. Andy spent considerable time mixing with the children and talking with the Paediatric Consultants attending the event. Almost 200 staff and their friends from Noosa Hospital gathered at the Boathouse recently to celebrate some of the incredible staff who work there, as it held its first Employee of the Year awards night. The nominees came from a number of departments within the hospital. Their colleagues advocated for each of them in chronological order; some did it in verse, others in song and dance while MC for the night Earle Bailey kept order. A judging panel comprising Dr John Lancaster, the Hon. Glen Elmes MP and Mr Lloyd Hill, Ramsay Queensland State Manager were left with the difficult job of selecting the hospital’s inaugural winner. In the end Emergency Department Nurse Henny Doeland was selected from amongst the nominees. Henny who came through the ranks at Noosa as a graduate nurse 3 years ago, was praised as someone who always goes above and beyond what is required of her in a demanding part of the Hospital. Henny’s prize is a $1,000 travel voucher while she gets to keep the Employee of the Year trophy for 12 months. The night’s runner up, Joy Tomlin, is a housekeeper who has worked at the hospital for over 10 years. Joy’s manager praised her as someone who loves her job and always goes about her work with a smile on her face. Joy’s prize is a $500 travel voucher.
