Medical equipment donations scorecard SINCE THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE RAMSAY ROTARY BERRIMA MEDICAL EQUIPMENT DONATIONS PROGRAM, OVER NINE CONTAINERS OF MEDICAL EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES HAVE BEEN SENT TO COUNTRIES INCLUDING FIJI, SAMOA, VIETNAM, PAPUA NEW GUINEA, PHILIPPINES & MOZAMBIQUE. Rotary clubs around Australia have banded together to support the project sharing resources, containers space, volunteers and other donations. Recently 830 cartons of Ramsay gowns together with 67 cartons containing sewing machines, computers and books were shipped to the Rotary Club of Iligan East in the Philippines for distribution to the Days for Girls International programme. 16 The Ramsay Way - 2014 | 03 OURCOMMUNITY Previously two 20ft containers sent to Vietnam and the Philippines recently with the assistance of the Rotary Club of Mosman, each contained 660 cartons of gowns and 2 anaesthetic machines. Two ultrasound machines will soon be heading to PNG. In recent months the following equipment has been delivered for reuse in overseas communities: • A hydraulic operating bed donated from Southern Highlands Private Hospital to the Phillipines • A traction table donated from Nowra Private to the Philippines • Equipment used to sterilise gastroscopes and colonoscopes donated by Greenslopes Private to Sri Lanka and four Joyce beds from Greenslopes ICU are heading to Papua New Guinea • An echocardiography ultrasound machine with two transducers are destined for the Village Health program in Philippines • Pre-natal examinations equipment are heading to the Solomon Island Medical Centre The following items are awaiting final destinations: • 15 medicraft electric beds from Joondalup Health Campus • CPAP whisper flow and oxygen sensor from Waverley Private • 1 training bed from Greenslopes Private To date the Ramsay/Rotary donations have improved the lives of people in many countries including Fiji, PNG, Mozambique, Philippines, Solomon Islands. Sri Lanka and Vietnam. If your hospital has any equipment to donate to the program please contact Sue Panuccio on: panuccios@ramsayhealth.com.au Give Me 5 for Kids The inaugural Mildura Base Hospital Walkathon has capped off another hugely successful Radio 97.9 Sun FM ‘Give Me 5 For Kids’ campaign in the city. Walkers strode it out for two laps of a figure-eight circuit from Langtree Mall in the city centre in July, with many donning a yellow outfit to show their support for the campaign. The walkathon organised by MBH staff and the Community Advisory Board will become an annual feature of Give Me 5 For Kids, which this year again lifted the bar in raising funds for the MBH Children’s Ward.
