HOSPITALNEWS Top marks for staff satisfaction at Hollywood Radiation Oncology confirmed for Greenslopes Private 6 The Ramsay Way - 2014 | 04 Mitcham see double Kareena turns 50 IN A RECENT EMPLOYEE SURVEY MEASURING WORKPLACE PERCEPTION & JOB SATISFACTION, HOLLYWOOD PRIVATE HOSPITAL HAS RANKED AS THE BEST PERFORMING HOSPITAL IN AUSTRALIA IN THE CATEGORY OF PRIVATE HOSPITALS WITH 151 OR MORE BEDS. The Ramsay Employee Survey was conducted by Press Ganey Associates, a world leader in organisational performance measurement. The employees ranked the hospital highly in the specific areas of quality of patient care; overall job fulfilment; caring for employees’ health, safety and well-being; job security; and teamwork. “The best thing about working for this organisation is the exceptional care delivered to patients” said one Hollywood employee. Another employee said “There is an amazing teamwork ethic at Hollywood and respect throughout the entire organisation for staff and patients.” Hollywood has long been an employer of choice in the community. The results of this survey substantiate the hospital’s commitment to the values which underpin its positive workplace culture. The hospital also topped last year’s national survey for patient satisfaction for the private hospital category of more than 300 beds. The result follows the implementation of an ‘amazing service’ strategy aimed at ensuring the hospital continues to provide an excellent patient experience. “High quality patient care and employee morale are our highest priorities and I am delighted at the results of the two surveys” said Hollywood CEO Peter Mott. KAREENA PRIVATE RECENTLY CELEBRATED THEIR 50TH ANNIVERSARY WITH A BLACK TIE BALL TO MARK THE SIGNIFICANT OCCASION. Three hundred and fifty staff, doctors and special guests attended the evening at the Shangri La Hotel including the founding owner of Kareena Private Hospital, Dr Harry Segal and his wife Patricia. Dr Segal, a local surgeon at the time, constructed the hospital in 1964 as one of the first purpose-built private surgical hospitals in Sydney. The first stage on the top floor consisted of a 33 bed ward, operating theatres for major and minor surgery, kitchen and support service. The second stage of construction under this level included a further 44 beds on the ground floor. This work commenced within only six months of completion of the initial works and due to some clever planning, was able to be completed without impacting on the hospital functioning above. Over the years the hospital has been upgraded and expanded to meet the needs of the Sutherland Shire community and now boasts a comprehensive range of specialities and services. The most recent developments have seen Kareena transform it a modern 139 bed facility with six stateof the art operating theatres; a brand new 36 bed surgical ward; newly renovated private maternity suites; a modernised level 2 special care nursery; new onsite specialist medical suites; and full rehabilitation services including a hydrotherapy pool and gymnasium. Kareena prides itself on having a wonderful team of clinical and support staff who have provided 50 memorable years of personal clinical care to patients. From late 2015, patients will be able to access radiation therapy onsite at Greenslopes Private Hospital. Plans are well underway for the construction of the state-of-the-art facility that is expected to be operational by this time next year. The facility will be run by Radiation Oncology Queensland (ROQ). ROQ Greenslopes has been in the pipeline for several years and will include: • Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) • Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) • Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) • Respiratory Gating (RPM) • Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiation Therapy (SABR) • Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) This world class technology will be delivered by a team of highly trained professionals including radiation oncologists, radiation therapists, medical physicists, nursing and administrative staff.
