Following approval received last month by Queensland Health, Ramsay’s Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital (SCUPH) will open with one cardiac catheter laboratory initially but has plans for two or more laboratories to open in line with demand into the future. Hospital CEO Kimberley Pierce said cardiac services would be one of the major specialties for private patients at the hospital and one that Ramsay Health Care planned to expand in the future. “With an expanding and ageing population on the Sunshine Coast, the demand for cardiac services is going to increase and we are looking forward to providing a comprehensive cardiac service at SCUPH,” Ms Pierce said. “We have some experienced Sunshine Coast and other cardiologists committed to joining our hospital and together with these cardiologists we are looking forward to building a premier cardiac service for the Sunshine Coast.” Construction of Ramsay’s Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital is on track. The hospital will open with a state-of-the-art cardiac catheter laboratory and is gearing up to be a major cardiac hospital for the Sunshine Coast.
