HOSPITALNEWS Infusion Centre Celebrates 1st Year of Operation ST ANDREW’S IPSWICH PRIVATE HOSPITAL WAS DELIGHTED TO WELCOME BACK PAST & CURRENT PATIENTS OF THEIR INFUSION CENTRE; MARKING THE CENTRE’S ONE YEAR OF OPERATION. Chris Went, CEO said: “St Andrew’s is proud to provide infusion and chemotherapy services to Ipswich and the surrounding community; enabling patients to receive care locally, so their lives aren’t impacted through travel whilst receiving treatment.” Mayor Paul Pisalale and Councillor Andrew Antoniolli presented the centre with an anniversary plaque; marking one year of operation. Reinventing the meal OVER TWO YEARS AGO, HOLLYWOOD EMBARKED ON A “REINVENTING THE MEAL” PROJECT WHICH RESULTED IN A TOTAL OVERHAUL OF THE HOSPITAL’S FOOD SERVICE. Driven by Hollywood’s catering and dietetics teams, the initiative has dramatically improved catering processes and patient meals. “Reinventing the Meal” has delivered high rankings of patient satisfaction of meals at Hollywood in Press Ganey surveys culminating in being awarded the 2013 Press Ganey Success Story for the project. To raise awareness of Hollywood’s ongoing commitment to delivering tasty and healthy meals, the hospital has produced a video that details the “Reinventing the Meal” journey. The video has been posted on the hospital’s website, Facebook page, Ramsay Health Care’s You Tube channel and is soon to be on the Patient TV channel. The billboards outline personal commitment from the CEO, Deputy CEO and others and are a designed to keep safety top of mind. Health and safety is something we need to become inherent in what we do, not an afterthought or an additional step in our procedures. This type of initiative is a constant reminder of the health and safety message and helps to reinforce it daily to everyone who sees it. NSW adopts LED Strategy By end of June 2014, most of Ramsay’s NSW hospitals will have replaced inefficient lighting such as halogen downlights with LEDs. Installing LED lighting has become a cost effective option in recent years with reductions in the cost of the lights and improvements in the technology. LED lights use 80% less energy than downlights and 50% less energy than fluorescents. They are also cooler lights meaning much less heat is created and less airconditioning is required – again contributing to reductions in energy consumption. If you would like more information on LED options for your site, contact Sue Panuccio or Ramsay’s National Environment Manager Geoff Adams at panucciosue@ramsayhealth.com.au or adamsg@ramsayhealth.com.au
