Scalp cooling, whilst not a guarantee, offers patients the option to not lose their hair whilst having a course of chemotherapy which is often the visible trauma of cancer. Since its introduction the Centre has seen a near 90% success rate with 35 patients retaining their hair (or minimal thinning) from using scalp cooling whom would have otherwise lost it with their usual course of chemotherapy. Anecdotally patients have expressed they have more self-confidence, higher self-image and are more positive in their approach to their disease and treatment. Massage services are also offered to patients weekly.
