Milestone achieved in contract negotiations for Joondalup Health Campus

February 01, 2021

Ramsay Health Care has today welcomed agreement with the WA Government on key terms for a 15-year contract extension, with an option for another five, to operate Joondalup Health Campus.

The agreement on key terms has provided RHC with confidence to continue planning a substantial expansion of its private hospital services at the site.

Ramsay Health Care has partnered with the Department of Health since 2005 to develop and operate Joondalup Health Campus which has since then more than doubled in size to become one of the biggest and busiest health services in the State.

A major $256.7 million expansion on the campus’s public facilities is underway, with construction firm Multiplex awarded an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) tender during January.

Ramsay Health Care Australia CEO Carmel Monaghan said Ramsay was committed to its operations at Joondalup and was already planning a major new private expansion.

“This agreement on key terms for continued operations at Joondalup Health Campus for 15 years, with an option to extend for another five, delivers confidence and continuity of care to people in Perth’s northern suburbs,” Ms Monaghan said.

“Our plans to deliver new facilities at Joondalup Health Campus to meet the demand of Australia’s fastest-growing populations are well advanced. Our private hospital expansion will respond to key issues including additional inpatient beds, operating theatres, a day procedure unit and a major new car parking facility.

Ms Monaghan said Joondalup Health Campus had cared for 42 COVID positive patients during 2020 and had been recognised for its effective infection control measures, reporting no transmission of the virus.
