At Ramsay, sustainability is part of who we are. Our people, patients and doctors care deeply about creating a healthier future.

We have a global sustainability strategy called Ramsay Cares. Our people and our business are focused on three pillars of sustainability:

  • Caring for our people.
  • Caring for our planet.
  • Caring for our community.

Real progress comes from everyday actions. Across Australia, our teams are leading and inspiring change in practical, meaningful ways.

Caring for our people

At Ramsay, we care for our patients, our partners and each other. Our culture attracts people who are driven to support, heal and lead with purpose.

Gender equality

Ramsay is committed to creating a fair and inclusive workplace where everyone has opportunities to grow and build a meaningful career. We report annually to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) to understand our progress, strengthen accountability and identify where further action is needed.

Our WGEA reports provide insights into gender representation, pay equity and the workplace policies and practices that support gender equality across Ramsay.

Inclusive culture

Inclusive Culture at Ramsay is our commitment to creating workplaces where people feel they belong, have opportunities to grow and can contribute in meaningful ways. It recognises that when people feel included, they are more likely to speak up, share ideas, build connections and do their best work.

By better understanding the experiences and perspectives across our workforce through employee feedback, workforce data and lived experiences, we can identify and remove barriers that impact participation, opportunity, wellbeing and belonging.

Inclusive Culture is brought to life through stories, practical resources and initiatives that support inclusion across Ramsay.

Mental health first aid training

Just as physical first aid helps us respond to medical emergencies, mental health first aid gives us the skills to support someone experiencing a mental health problem or crisis.

Ramsay is proud to support employees in becoming trained Mental Health First Aiders. The course provides a practical, skills-based action plan to help our people to recognise the signs, offer support, and guide someone to appropriate professional help.

Caring for our planet

Health care depends on energy, materials and resources. As Australia’s largest private hospital network, we’re committed to reducing our environmental impact and our people are driving practical change every day.

We’re focused on:

  • Phasing out desflurane anaesthetic gas
  • Installing energy efficient lighting
  • Heating, ventilation and air conditioning
  • Using rigid sterilisation containers
  • Installing solar panels
  • Waste reduction measures

Caring for our community

Supporting people’s health and wellbeing includes building stronger, more connected communities. Across Ramsay, our teams work with local partners and organisations to create lasting, meaningful change because when communities thrive, so do the people in them.

Ramsay Health Care Triathlon Pink

We proudly support the Ramsay Health Care Triathlon Pink series, fostering community health and active lifestyles. This enduring partnership reflects our commitment to well-being, preventative health, and sustainable community engagement. The event raises funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation with more than $2.6 million raised over 17 years.

Ramsay Charity Challenge Program

Ramsay Charity Challenge is a unique opportunity available to our team members who wish to participate in giving back to the community. This initiative allows employees to apply for top-up funds from Ramsay Health Care towards a registered charity of their choosing.
