Ramsay Health Care Australia launches inaugural Ramsay Research Month

August 31, 2021

Australia’s largest private hospital operator, Ramsay Health Care, is launching its inaugural Ramsay Research Month, revealing it is currently participating in more than 1,000 clinical trials and research projects involving more than 27,000 patients.

Throughout Ramsay Research Month (1-30 September), Ramsay will host a series of professional webinars, share educational videos and make an exciting multi-million dollar research announcement on 13 September.

Ramsay’s Head of Research, Innovation and Integrated Care, Nicola Ware, said Ramsay Research Month would feature five webinars designed for any Australian health care professionals who are considering a move into research or are simply interested to learn more.

“We know some people may be keen to move into research but they don’t know how or where to begin. During Ramsay Research Month we’ll cover specific topics that can help make that process less daunting, through six one-hour interactive webinars,” Ms Ware said.

The webinars include presentations and panel discussions with a distinguished list of guest speakers including Professor Terry Nolan AO from the Doherty Institute, Associate Professor Julian Elliot, Chair of the National COVID-19 Clinical Evidence Taskforce and Ramsay’s Chief Medical Officer Dr Robert Herkes.  People keen to attend can register their interest on the Ramsay Research website and they will be sent a Zoom link the day before the event.

Ramsay Australia’s Chief Executive Officer, Carmel Monaghan, said Ramsay Health Care Australia was proud to play a leading role in the nation’s research sector.

“We foster a culture that actively supports research because we know this leads to better patient outcomes. Our commitment to research and investment in the latest technology gives patients hope and it means they have opportunities to access new treatments that they might not otherwise have access to,” Ms Monaghan said.

“Right now across the country we have more than 350 researchers, including doctors and nurses, involved in studies investigating more than 30 specialties and conditions such as cancer, mental health, maternity, cardiology, pharmacy, pain medicine and orthopaedics.

“Their work is really exciting and we’re proud to invest in these clinical trials and research projects because our ultimate goal is to shape the future of health care to improve outcomes for all,” Ms Monaghan said.

Ramsay Health Care established and registered the Ramsay Hospital Research Foundation in 2017 to help improve methods of preventing, diagnosing, treating and controlling diseases.
