Ramsay’s 2021 Impact Report showcases sustainability in action

Ramsay Health Care’s latest Impact Report has been released, showing the wide range of initiatives and projects now underway to support social and environmental sustainability across the global business.

The 2021 Impact Report highlights Ramsay Australia’s ambitious solar energy rollout and success in reducing single-use plastics.

Ramsay Health Care Managing Director and CEO Craig McNally said the Impact Report brought to life how Ramsay is making a positive difference for current and future generations.

Despite the challenges of another COVID year, our people are making an award-winning difference to Ramsay’s sustainability,” he said. “It’s an issue we can all get behind and play a part.

Ramsay is excited about raising the sustainability bar, for our people and the health care sector at large.

Ramsay Australia CEO, Carmel Monaghan, said it was important for the organisation to play a leading role in reducing its impact on the environment and advancing health outcomes for the community.

I really believe that a great company is one that makes the world a better place,” Ms Monaghan said.

“This Impact Report shows how we are doing that across Ramsay Australia – via installing solar panels and energy-efficient lighting at our hospitals, substituting plastic water bottles for reusable jugs, and replacing more than 20 million single-use plastic items with environmentally-friendly alternatives.”

Through our research culture, were actively shaping the future of health care and helping to identify new therapies to improve patient outcomes. We’re currently participating in more than 1000 clinical trials and research projects in Australia.”

“We also offer a wide range of training and professional development opportunities to help our people to realise their full potential.In Australia this year, we have started investing in four new education and development programs for our nurses.” 

“We have also commenced our mission to train 1000 of our Australian staff as mental health first aiders because we recognise the ongoing wellbeing of our employees is critical.”

Ms Monaghan said the benefit of growing sustainably is that Ramsay can continue to deliver quality health care, not only now but for generations into the future.
