St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital is excited to introduce Michael Lewczuk as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Mr Lewczuk has an extensive health care background, working as a nurse, primarily in paediatrics, before moving into health care management.
Mr Lewczuk said he is excited to return to Ipswich after serving as the Executive Director at Ipswich Hospital for two years from 2019, including during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“For me this has really felt like a homecoming being back within the Ipswich community with the opportunity to work again with so many people I admire and respect,” Mr Lewczuk said.
“I have great relationships with health care professionals in the region and the Ipswich community and am well aware of the challenges the local community faces including flooding, COVID-19 recovery and population growth.”
Mr Lewczuk said he is excited to be joining the team at St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital, after getting to experience a taste of The Ramsay Way during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“During the early stages of the pandemic I worked closely with the St Andrew’s team and was impressed by their ability to plan and deliver best in class services for the community.
“I am amazed and energized by our actual facility and more importantly, the people. The smiles and clear commitment all our teams have has been great to see and makes me excited and proud to be a part of the St Andrew’s team.”
Mr Lewczuk joins the hospital at a time of significant growth, with Ramsay Health Care recently investing $44 million in a redevelopment of the hospital.
“It’s really exciting times ahead for St Andrew’s. Upon completion of the redevelopment, we will be able to provide even more leading health care services locally. My key focus is continuing to make a St Andrew’s a great place to work and a hospital which focuses its decisions around great patient outcomes.”
Mr Lewczuk thanked outgoing CEO Claire Thurwood for her outstanding leadership and forward planning which he believes has set St Andrew’s up for success.
Ms Thurwood will remain with Ramsay Health Care, taking on a national role in the growing day surgery space as CEO of Ramsay Surgical Centres.
Ms Thurwood said she is leaving St Andrew’s in good hands.
“Michael has experience in effective and efficient delivery of clinical services including medicine, surgery and perioperative, clinical support, women, children and family, and digital health solutions divisions. Also, I’m thrilled to have someone joining the team who is already connected to the Ipswich community,” Ms Thurwood said.
