This phase of development will include: • 1 additional theatre • 2 additional ICU beds • A complete upgrade to the Day Surgery and Patient Admissions Unit Westmead's committed to enhancing its customers' experience as well as creating an improved workplace for its staff. MBH Chief executive officer Julia Morgan said the new projects were a welcome investment in meeting the future needs of a growing community. “Our Intensive Care Unit and High Dependency Unit is currently five beds but this project will expand the unit to eight beds,” Ms Morgan said. “The ICU is one of the areas within the hospital that is often full and the expansion of ICU and HDU means more of the most unwell patients can receive the care they need right here in Mildura, rather than being transferred away.” Member for Northern Victoria, Steve Herbert said of the upgrade: “We’re putting patients first and revamping our rural and regional health services so more patients in Mildura can be treated sooner, closer to home. Noosa Hospital has expanded its service offering a geographical reach to include regional Gympie – 100kms north of Noosa. Gympie is one of the fastest growing country towns in the area with a population of more than 50,000 and was identified by the hospital’s CEO, Jude Emmer, for the potential to bring much needed specialist healthcare services to its expanding local community. The new specialist suites are located in Channon Street, within the Friendlies pharmacy building, and offer comprehensive and easily accessible specialist services to local residents.
