We remember… Strathfield Private Hospital mourns the recent death of Kathy Kennedy a long-serving and devoted physiotherapist at the hospital. Kathy died in July after a brave battle with brain cancer, and not long after the losing her husband Chris in 2013. “Kathy was a very experienced therapist and a very kind and thoughtful person. Nothing was too much trouble for her in both her professional and private life,” says Jane Burger, fellow Strathfield Private physiotherapist. “She always had time for her patients and fellow colleagues. Patients would never feel like just another client when Kathy was looking after them!! Her ability to speak French was also a wonderful attribute to the team when the CAFAT patients began coming to the hospital in greater numbers.” In February, Kathy and her children organised and hosted a morning tea in the hospital courtyard to thank all the staff at the hospital for their support and friendship during her time at the hospital. Strathfield’s staff are deeply saddened by her death and their thoughts are with Kathy’s three children, Patrick, Katie, and Bernadette.  Vale Victoria Young On Thursday 5 November 2015 the management and staff of Noosa Hospital mourned the sad passing of their colleague and friend, Victoria Young. Victoria was a wonderful nurse, mother, daughter and friend to many. Her commitment to her work was exemplary and she made everyone that came into contact with her feel special and cared for. Victoria was widely admired and liked by her colleagues for the high standards of nursing care she provided and her ability to individualise the patient care process. She was nominated for Employee of the Month for a record six consecutive months during 2015. Throughout her illness, Victoria demonstrated wonderful courage and strength; she was an inspiration to many and will be sorely missed.  The Ramsay Way 2015 | 04 15 RAMSAY PEOPLE Zak Tilbury, Hollywood’s ‘Pride of Australia’ recipient Zak Tilbury, an Enrolled Nurse working in theatres at Hollywood Private Hospital, was recently awarded the Heroism Medal at the 2015 Pride of Australia ceremony for saving the life of 21 year old Gavin Barnett. Zak was driving on a suburban road when he witnessed a head-on collision between two vehicles in front of him. He stopped promptly to assess the situation and volunteer his services. Luckily, Zak’s experience as a volunteer for St John Ambulance had helped prepare him for such situations. On arrival, Zak immediately noticed that Mr Barnett was trapped, unconscious and not responding. Zak took control of the situation, co-ordinated the emergency response and worked with others to ensure that Mr Barnett was still alive when the paramedics arrived on the scene. The Pride of Australia Medal celebrates the unsung heroes of the community. Receiving this medal was great recognition for Zak, who believes his actions on the day of the event were not out of the ordinary.  Zak Tilbury awarded the Heroism Medial at the 2015 Pride of Australia ceremony
