DEVELOPMENTS Hospital stops traffic Renovations underway at Strathfield Work is well under way on the redevelopment of Strathfield Private Hospital operating theatres. The Hospital is adding two theatres and a new 12 bed recovery plus some additional storage. Stage one will see the installation of a new sterile stock room - prefabricated offsite to shorten the building time and limit the noise and dust around the hospital. It will also enable the hospital to continue to operate with minimal disruption to its busy surgical facility. Stage two is scheduled to begin in April 2013. Further expansion for Hollywood 4 TRW AUTUMN 2013 Ramsay Health Care has approved the next stage of development at Pindara Private Hospital following the successful completion of stage one in November 2010. The project, costing over $30 million, will see a further 56 private patient rooms with ensuites, two operating theatres and a new kitchen added to the hospital. When complete, Pindara will be a 316 bed hospital. Ramsay CEO Chris Rex said Pindara was an excellent hospital and had experienced strong growth over the last two years. “Our investment in increased bed and theatre capacity will provide the necessary infrastructure for us to better service the growing healthcare needs of the Gold Coast community. Pindara Private CEO Trish Hogan said the Board’s approval was good news for the busy hospital located at the northern end of the Gold Coast. “We are also very pleased to be investing in a project that will inject funds into the local economy and create jobs on the Gold Coast.” “Since the completion of our stage one development and the introduction of new services like neurosurgery and paediatrics, Pindara has been a growing and thriving hospital. These new facilities will further enhance the reputation of what is now one of the busiest private health precincts on the Gold Coast.” Ramsay Health Care has approved a $63.3 million expansion of Hollywood Private Hospital to address an increased demand for the hospital’s services. The expansion will see the modern, acute care hospital expand its operating theatres, wards, catering facilities and car park bays. Six new, state-of-the-art operating theatres will increase the hospital’s total theatre capacity to 16 and the redevelopment will include additional capacity in the theatre recovery and holding areas, and sterile supply unit. The project also includes two new wards and another level on the hospital’s multi-storey car park resulting in an additional 184 car bays. A new kitchen is also part of the plan to support the catering team who currently prepare over 1,500 meals every day. Regional Manager Operations WA/SA and Indonesia Kevin Cass-Ryall said the expansion is a result of growing demand for Hollywood Private Hospital’s facilities and services. “Hollywood’s existing 10 operating theatres are running at full capacity. Six new theatres will mean Hollywood is able to meet the increasing need for its services,” said Mr Cass-Ryall. Kevin Cass-Ryall said the expansion is an exciting new phase for the hospital and is testament to the amazing service and care that the hospital’s staff and doctors provide. “The need to expand our facilities only reinforces the strength of Hollywood Private Hospital’s reputation in offering the very best care, accommodation and medical facilities Western Australia has to offer,” added Kevin. Ramsay Health Care has invested over $200 million at the hospital since purchasing Hollywood Private Hospital in February 1994. Next stage of Development announced for Pindara Ramsay’s Sunshine Coast Hospital Progress Report The Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital development continues to progress well, being approximately 71 percent complete. Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology has been selected to provide pathology services, with Sunshine Coast Radiology appointed as the radiology provider. The last piece of Shepparton Private Hospital’s new day procedure unit stopped traffic recently when it arrived in town from Sydney. Once it crossed the border, Vic Roads took over the operation and closed sections of roads as the 7.2m wide modular building made its way to the hospital. A 250 tonne crane will put the last piece of the day procedure unit into place. The hospital’s chief executive, Sheryl Keir, said the $4 million expansion project was 15 years in the planning, and should be completed and operational by June. “We’re very excited, we’ve been able to look through the building and we’re absolutely amazed how big it is,” she said. Sheryl said the development of a new day procedure unit would provide improved endoscopy services to patients. Funding was approved by Ramsay Health Care last year. The construction and logistics of the portable building is by APB Modular. Interesting project stats so far
