ramsay SANTÉ Baby bathing video takes world by storm AUTUMN 2013 TRW 3 Ramsay Health Care has partnered with Rotary to establish an efficient and effective program of distributing medical equipment and goods to needy communities in Australia and overseas. The agreement came out of Ramsay’s and Rotary’s joint desire to establish a mechanism for the responsible donation and reuse of hospital and medical equipment and supplies which are no longer required by Ramsay’s facilities. The arrangement is specifically with the Rotary Club of Berrima and several shipments of hospital beds, cribs, anaesthetic machines and consumables have already made their way to needy destinations. Rotary Club of Berrima President Jan Edwards said their Club had a desire to make a positive contribution to the community. “This is a great initiative and we look forward to being able to assist in identifying potential communities and the needs of those communities in relation to any goods Ramsay advises could be available for donation. We will arrange the safe collection of the goods from the Ramsay facility and the delivery of the goods to the community in need,” Jan said. Ramsay’s coordinator of the program Sue Panuccio said the program had already got underway with some items delivered to Fiji over the last six months. She said items that could be considered for donation included: hospital beds, wheelchairs, theatre tables, theatre lights, medical supplies, hospital furniture, and medical equipment such as blood pressure monitors, anaesthetic machines, sterilisers. Through its corporate social responsibility program Ramsay is also providing financial contributions towards the costs of delivery. Ramsay/Rotary partnership kicks off Federal boost to Hospital’s Cancer Services Victorian Minister for Health David Davis recently visited Mildura Base Hospital to announce funding of $430,000 from the Victorian Coalition Government to double the size of the hospital’s oncology unit. The boost, which has been supported with a $50,000 contribution from Ramsay Health Care, will enable more cancer patients to be treated locally. “This funding will enable the hospital to double the capacity of its oncology and chemotherapy service with the provision of four extra chemotherapy chairs,” Mr Davis said. “The project will also provide an additional treatment area, isolation room, counselling room and staff facilities.” He said the plan provided greater certainty to country Victorians about what they could expect from their local health services and the broader health system.
