Peninsula delivers a very special baby Ramsay Mental Health launches PDP for Managers An education program specifically aimed at mental health unit managers has been launched by Ramsay Mental Health services. The program, developed by Ramsay Managers Tracey Stobo, CEO Northside West Clinic, and Susan Dunn, ADCS, Northside Clinic, is an interactive program that is designed to develop core management skills in mental health unit managers. The 12 week course covers business and medical modules that equip mental health unit managers with skills in workforce management, risk minimisation, professionalism and personal resilience, operational management, leadership, business development and change management. This was the century’s last sequential date according to the Gregorian or Christian calendar so marking a very special day according to superstition, or just an easy date to remember. The number 12 certainly holds significance in human existence through the millennia. Apart from there being 12 hours of day and night, and 12 months in the year in the Roman calendar, there 12 signs of the Zodiac, 12 Apostles, 12 days of Christmas, 12 tribes of Israel, 12 gods of Olympus, 12 old testament prophets – you get the idea! Baby Eliza was delivered by Peninsula’s Dr David Luiz Kareena Private is feeling a little brighter with all new LED lighting throughout the hospital as part of a new corporate initiative. The Lowa Group, an Australian based manufacturer is currently in the process of installing all new LED down lights and manufacturing specific LED lights for both normal and round bulbs. The new lights are being trialled at both Westmead and Kareena Private. The new LED lights are Australian made and come with a 5 year warranty with no replacements needed for 5 years. It is estimated to be an 80% saving on power from the LED down lights and 20% saving on fluoro lights. The capital cost has been 90% funded from the state government under one of their going greener initiatives. Kareena Private CEO, Steven Schultze says, “Kareena is extremely happy so far with the new LED lights with the 1st power bill in February showing approximately $10,000 savings on power!”. Kareena Private Hospital, in recent weeks successfully performed their very first egg retrieval procedure. Dr Andrew Zuschmann, Obstetrician, Gynaecologist and Fertility Specialist at Kareena Private completed the IVF procedure. Since then Kareena has done several other successful egg retrieval cases. Dr Zushcmann was quoted in the local paper saying, he was helping to create “ True Shire Babies”. Dr Zushcmann performed the first egg retrieval and embryo transfer procedure for a local couple. Peninsula midwife Emma Ashton pictured with the Jones’ & baby Eliza born 12/12/12 Peter Mott has been appointed to the role of Chief Executive Officer, Hollywood Private Hospital with the former CEO, Kevin Cass- Ryall assuming a greater regional role with WA, SA and Indonesia. Peter has 35 years’ experience in the Western Australian health industry in a range of management, health policy and workforce roles, in both the private and public sectors. Peter comes from St John of God where he has been CEO of Murdoch Private Hospital for the last 10 years, and since 2010 also responsible for St John of God Health Care Regional WA. Peter holds a Masters Degree in Industrial Relations, a Bachelor of Business Degree and a Diploma in Health Administration. He is currently a Board Member of the Australian Institute of Management WA and immediate past Chair of Lifeline WA. Peter commenced on Monday 18 March, 2013. Tracey Ricco has been appointed to the position of Finance Manager at Mt Wilga Private Hospital. Tracey has held CFO and management roles in the UK and Australia across a range of industries and most recently has been Financial Controller of four subsidiary companies that specialise in recruitment, HR consultancy and organisational development. Tracey has tertiary qualifications in both Accounting and Management and is a CPA. Tracey commences on 2 April. Peter Sexton has started as Finance Manager within the Ramsay Pharmacy Services business. Peter is an experienced Chartered Accountant with extensive finance and commercial experience in a diverse range of industries including previous roles with Village Roadshow, Merrill Lynch and Ernst & Young. Most recently, he was employed at Medici Capital, a health care consulting business which specialises in the pharmacy industry where he was the head of the Management Consulting Division for five years. After an absence of three years, Diane Jones is returning to Joondalup Health Campus (JHC) as Deputy CEO. Di was previously Deputy CEO at JHC for six years from 2004 to 2009 before leaving to take up a position as National Director of Clinical Services at the Little Company of Mary Health Care based in Sydney. Prior to 2004, Di held various senior positions at Affinity Health, Mayne Health and Health Care of Australia over a period of 16 years.
