Premier Bintaro helps children In January 2013, 60 children with cleft lip and palate defects underwent surgery at Premier Bintaro. The program, supported by Ramsay Health Care for the past four years, is allowed possible through a collaboration with OBI Foundation, a non-profit organisation that assists poor people requiring surgery. Two general surgeons and two plastic & reconstructive surgeons from Premier Bintaro Hospital performed 29 herniotomy procedures and 31 cleft lip and palate surgery procedures in January. Ramsay Indonesian doctors appointed to Australian Panel In December 2012, six Premier Jatinegara and Bintaro Hospital doctors were appointed to the Australian Panel of Medical Examiners as Panel Physicians (4) and Panel Radiologists (2), for the purpose of performing medical examinations, in preparation for Australian visa approval. This is an important milestone for the hospitals and something which has taken over 10 years to achieve. Ramsay Indonesia Future Leaders In 2012 Ramsay Health Care Indonesia introduced a future leaders program to supervisors across its three hospitals. Over 35 supervisors participated in the inaugural Future Leaders Program. Premier Surabaya awarded for Service Excellence AUTUMN 2013 TRW 9 International spotlight on The Cairns Clinic In December 2012 The Cairns Clinic again played host to an international student completing a 4 week internship. Miss Katharina Stopfer, a 4th year psychology student from the Friedrich-Alexander University, Erlangen, Germany, specifically chose The Cairns Clinic to complete her international internship to assist her in improving her psychological knowledge and skills as well as her language skills. Miss Stopfer said, “The Cairns Clinic happened to be the perfect place not only for getting in touch with clients but also for my professional growth in a warm and laid back environment. I had the great opportunity of running groups and engaging with clients, doctors and staff. Everyone in the clinic made my internship a wonderful experience which I can only highly recommend to other students.” Earlier in 2012, The Cairns Clinic hosted two medical students from France for their international internship. Director of Clinical Services, Joshua Hart, said it was exciting and an honour for the clinic to gain such international exposure. Baringa Doctor dances with the Stars Dr Phil is one of many doctors who work in the Baringa operating theatres. Dr Phil recently put his hand up to volunteer and fundraise for the Cancer Council of NSW by dancing in the Coffs Harbour local version of ‘Dancing With The Stars’. Mildura Base Hospital staff member Bonnie Cox has been named Mildura’s citizen of the year after being instrumental in establishing the town’s life-saving emergency response team. Bonnie, who works in the Hospital’s admissions risk program, was nominated by the Nangiloc-Colignan community, in which she has lived for about 30 years. And after being presented with the award at The Nowingi Place Australia Day breakfast on Saturday, she was eager¬ to get back home to share the award with friends and family. Mildura Mayor Glenn Milne praised Mrs Cox for launching the Community Emergency Response Team about 10 years ago. “It’s a response team that works with the ambulance service to provide response to accidents and incidents around the Nangiloc- Colignan area,” he said. “Previously the wait for an ambulance may have been up to two hours. “That response now is down to minutes because there is a local team who goes out, trained in first aid, trained to offer as much help as they possibly can before that ambulance actually arrives. Premier Surabaya Hospital has once again, received “The Best of Surabaya Service Excellence Champion 2012” for private hospitals 150-200 bed category. This is the 3rd time the hospital has received this award.
