RAMSAYSIMEDARBY The Ramsay Way - 2015 | 01 9 Park City Medical Centre benefits from new cardiac equipment Ramsay Sime Darby’s ParkCity Medical Centre has become the first hospital in Malaysia to invest in the advanced interventional innovation from Siemens Healthcare – the ceiling mounted Siemens Artis Q angiography system. The recent installation of the Siemens Artis Q technology into their new cardiac catheter laboratory at the ParkCity Medical Centre now provides the infrastructure for the Centre to grow in structural heart disease and endovascular surgery, facilitating the latest techniques, procedures and devices in these fields. The Artis Q angiography system for interventional imaging is a visionary breakthrough in X-ray generation and detection that takes performance and precision to the next level. It features new X-ray tube and detector technology designed to improve minimally invasive therapy of diseases such as coronary heart disease (CAD), stroke and cancer. The device can help clinicians identify small vessels up to 70% better than conventional X-ray tube technology as it uses a unique GIGALIX flat emitter instead of coiled filament traditionally found within X-ray tubes, allowing the lowest appropriate dose to be achieved plus provide fine focal spot sizes and grid pulse technology. This protects patients, doctors and medical staff, especially during longer interventions. The system also includes a unique water cooled 16-bit detector, which provides 4 times the depth resolution, when compared to conventional 14-bit detectors resulting in soft-tissue contrast. The Artis Q angiography system was selected due to its excellent image quality following comprehensive evaluation of other systems available on the market. With its ability to visualize tiny blood vessels and devices, it will allow clinicians to provide a highly accurate service for complex conditions. “The opening of our catheterization lab is significant for our communities,” said Ch’ng Lin Ling, Hospital CEO of ParkCity Medical Centre. “Cardiovascular disease remains one of the top medical concerns in our country and our new catheter lab will help with the diagnosis and management of this disease,” she said. “The new cath lab will provide a higher level of accessibility and precision for our doctors when treating and managing heart condition. “For the patient, having equipment with ultralow radiation dose, enhanced visibility for small vessels and high quality images allows the cardiologist to see real-time clear stent. ParkCity Medical Centre has raised the bar in providing treatment for interventional cardiac procedures. “ParkCity Medical Center prides itself on providing its patients with the latest innovative technology. The installation of this state-of-the-art equipment supports the Centre’s commitment to improving the health outcomes for the cardiac patients in our community.” Premier Jatinegrara successful in JCI reaccreditation After a five days of survey, by the Joint Commission International (JCI) surveyors.
