Over 370 incredible teams of four took on a 100km journey in 48hours in support of Oxfam Australia. Oxfam Trailwalk is one of the world’s toughest team challenges and Oxfam’s largest fundraising event. The teams do it tough for people doing it tougher. Sally and Chris’s team “We There Yet?” completed the walk in just over 39hrs. The total amount raised for the Oxfam Trailwalk event exceeded the $1.5 million goal and it is all thanks to those who walked in the event and especially to those who supported and sponsored the teams. St George Private Hospital recently supported the Brighton Beachside Dash and featured hospital employee Lachlan Taylor dressed in a dragon suit as the 50 minute pacer dragon for the 10km run. St George Private was a big supporter of the day, with a number of staff and their family running in the various events as well as providing the first aid facilities for all entrants, which thankfully were minimally used. Nursing staff from Frances Perry House recently completed the 20km walk in the 100 Women Walk. The walk is organised by the Women’s Cancer Foundation to raise funds for Ovarian Cancer Research. The idea for the walk is to have 100 women walking to represent the 100 women newly diagnosed with ovarian cancer each month…2 out of 3 of these women will not survive. Body FPH Gynaecologic Oncologist Prof Michael Quinn (pictured with the Frances Perry House team), who is also a committee member of the Women’s Cancer Foundation said: “The staff at Frances Perry once again have surpassed themselves. An amazing effort by an amazing group of women!” Brighton Beachside Dash Frances Perry in 100 Women Walk Kerry Ross-Ireland, Elizabeth Schembri, Joh Pertzel, Rebecca Scott, Deb Bland, Megan Whittle, Prof Michael Quinn, Annie Edmonstone & Thea Herrmann (seated front row)
