Prestigious Award Recognises the Best Implementation of GS1 Standards Ramsay Health Care has been announced the winner of the prestigious ‘GS1 Healthcare Best Provider Implementation Case Study Award’ in the GS1 Healthcare Provider Advisory Council (HPAC) awards. The Ramsay Way 2016 | 02 19 CORPORATE This agreement brings together Ramsay’s clinical expertise and keen understanding of patients’ needs with Baxter’s extensive technical and production expertise in aseptic compounding. CEO of Ramsay’s Pharmacy Group Peter Giannopoulos said the decision to enter into this agreement would enhance Ramsay’s ability to provide customised cancer services and optimise treatment outcomes for oncology patients. “Baxter is recognised as Australia’s leading TGA licensed compounder and their capacity to meet the needs of our patients, particularly those being treated in our rural and remote facilities, in a timely manner, was a key criteria for us,” Mr Giannopoulos said. Chemotherapy compounding is an important part of customised patient care as it caters to a person’s individual health condition and treatment needs. “As a leader in aseptic compounding services in Australia, partnerships like this enable us to deliver products of exceptional quality, reliability and safety to a greater number of patients, leverage our national network of TGA licensed facilities. This improves access to the full range of intravenous chemotherapy in regional areas.” said Steve Flynn General Manager for Baxter Australia and New Zealand. Baxter provides regulated aseptic compounding services across Australia through six compounding pharmacies in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, and South Australia. Every year, Baxter provides Australians with over 1.8million customised treatments to help save and sustain lives.  The award recognises the best implementation of GS1 standards to support improvements of at least one process in their hospital group. The ceremony was held at the recent Global GS1 Healthcare Conference held in Dubai where the GS1 Healthcare community gathered to hear about the implementation of GS1 standards in hospitals and the benefits global standards bring to providers and patients. Andrew Potter, Group Inventory Manager at Ramsay Health Care said, “We are incredibly pleased and humbled to win this award. It’s a reflection of the continuing work by Ramsay Health Care to look for ways to improve how we deliver care – but is also a result of the continuing work by GS1 in supporting the NEHTA Australian Healthcare Supply Chain reform program to improve the health supply chain in Australia. The adoption of GS1 standards by all healthcare providers and their suppliers in Australia is creating efficiency, quality and safety benefits for all parties.” Ramsay Health Care has undertaken a number of projects over the past several years, utilising GS1 standards to support fundamental process improvements and efficiencies across their 70 hospitals and day surgery units around Australia. Use of GS1 standards has already enabled significant benefits within the areas of master data, inventory management, purchase-to-pay and patient record accuracy as they continue to identify new areas for benefits.  Baxter and Ramsay Sign Deal for Chemotherapy Compounding Baxter Healthcare Pty Ltd (Baxter) and Ramsay Health Care (Ramsay) have entered into an agreement to provide Chemotherapy compounding services to Ramsay from June 2016.
