HILLCREST ROCKHAMPTON PRIVATE HOSPITAL HAS COMMENCED THE FIVE MILLION DOLLAR EXPANSION OF ITS MENTAL HEALTH FACILITY – ARCHERVIEW CLINIC. The construction will expand the Archerview from 12 to 24 beds and will include a new Day Program area. Hillcrest offers the only private mental health facility between Sunshine Coast and Cairns and is therefore a vital service in the region. Hillcrest CEO Tracey Wust said: “Mental health is a vital service in regional Australia and we have experienced significant demand for our services since opening the unit in February 2012”. Construction will commence this month with the new facility expected to open in January 2015. Local politician, Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry recently visited to view the unit and meet key stakeholders in the project. Mitcham CEO Sam Dodd said the new accommodation would consist of all private rooms with good natural sunlight and the building would include a patient gymnasium and increased dining facilities. “This will be a very welcome addition to our mental health service which has expanded rapidly since we opened just a few years ago,” Sam said. “Mitcham Private prides itself on the quality of our services and this upgrade and expansion will further enhance our reputation in the marketplace.” THE CAIRNS CLINIC WILL SHORTLY COMMENCE ECT SERVICES WITH THE COMPLETION OF A BRAND NEW ONE MILLION DOLLAR ECT SUITE. Ramsay Cairns CEO Steve Rajcany said the addition of this service to The Clinic would enable patients to have this treatment locally. “Currently, patients are transferred to Brisbane for ECT treatment which is not ideal for them or their families. “With four private psychiatrists now admitting to the Clinic, the demand for mental health services including ECT has increased.” Doctors and staff have undergone extensive training in the delivery of ECT services.
