Ramsay Health Care is expanding its Clinical Trial Network, opening its 17th site at The Avenue Hospital in Victoria.
The opening of the new site coincides with the second annual ‘Ramsay Research Month’, which throughout September is celebrating the health and medical research happening across the Ramsay network with a range of competitions, national webinars and local events across the country.
The Avenue Hospital CEO Lisa McFadden said she was pleased the hospital could offer patients access to clinical trials and expand Ramsay’s growing research capabilities.
“Offering the opportunity to participate in clinical trials is just another way The Avenue Hospital is providing comprehensive, quality care to patients,” Ms McFadden said.
“We’re lucky to have some of Victoria’s best clinicians here at The Avenue and its wonderful that their work could help develop medical interventions that could benefit many.”
The Avenue Hospital currently has four clinicians on board to undertake clinical trials in orthopaedics.
“Launching with four leading clinicians on board is a great start and we look forward to supporting their important research,” Ms McFadden said.
“We’re hoping to have more clinicians on board soon to expand the range of research areas we support.”
Ramsay Hospital Research Foundation CEO, Nicola Ware, said The Avenue Hospital site will join other sites in playing a leading role in Australia’s health and medical research sector.
“Ramsay is committed to driving and participating in research that will shape the future of health care and improve methods of preventing, diagnosing, treating and controlling diseases,” Ms Ware said.
“We’re excited to welcome The Avenue Hospital as our 17th site in the Ramsay Health Care Clinical Trial Network. The work they do will help development new medical interventions that will drive better patient outcomes and healthier communities.”
Ramsay is currently involved in more than 1,000 clinical research trials nationally engaging almost 40,000 patients.
There are now 17 dedicated clinical trials units in Ramsay facilities around Australia. All Ramsay trial sites use standardised operating procedures and the same processes to establish trial activity. All Ramsay clinical trials operate under an ethical and governance framework that complies with the Australian Code of Research Conduct, Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GHP) and ethical standards.
