Regional Clinical Quality and Risk Manager, Louise Martyn will commence the Nurse Leaders of Tomorrow program this month, moving her one step closer to her long-term career goal to work in clinical governance in a national role.

Louise began her career in critical care nursing, working clinically in cardiothoracic and general intensive care units before moving into the clinical governance space in a Clinical Nurse Consultant capacity.

In 2019 Louise joined Ramsay as a Clinical Project Manager, before transitioning into her current role where she is responsible for operationalising the Ramsay National Patient Safety and Clinical Quality Framework at Albury Wodonga Private Hospital, The Border Cancer Hospital and Murray Valley Private Hospital.

Louise applied to join the 2023/2024 cohort of Ramsay’s Nurse Leaders of Tomorrow program to increase her leadership skills and put her in good stead for the next step in her career.

“I am passionate about the positive impact effective nursing leadership can have on patient and business outcomes and efficiencies, and this, along with my career goals led me to apply for the program.”

“I am seeking an opportunity that will challenge me to extend my existing knowledge and skillset and am keen to develop a stronger insight into my own leadership style, my values and my drivers – I think the application of such knowledge on a day-to-day basis can have a really positive impact in my existing role as well as future roles.

“I see the program as a unique opportunity to expand my Ramsay professional network across Australia. Having the opportunity to learn from senior leaders in the organisation who are operating at the top of their game and are in their own right, industry leaders, is really quite extraordinary and motivating.”

Louise has taken advantage of a number of professional development opportunities during her time at Ramsay.

“So far, I have completed the Frontline Leadership Development Course and a University of Tasmania Graduate Certificate in Health Services Management (Safety and Quality as well as the Leadership Masterclass Series.”

“The scale of the company represents really limitless opportunities for professional growth. I have a young family and a shift working husband so the flexibility that Ramsay offers me around my work arrangements is wonderfully progressive and something that I really value.”

Louise was accepted into the 2023/2024 cohort of the Nurse Leaders of Tomorrow program.
