Ramsay Health Care has expanded its global reach by acquiring one of Europe's leading health care companies with 186 facilities.
The Capio Group has joined the company’s French subsidiary, Ramsay Générale de Santé (RGdS).
Ramsay CEO and RGdS Chairman, Craig McNally, said Capio offered medical, surgical and psychiatric services through its hospitals, specialist clinics, and primary care units across five European countries.
“The acquisition of Capio has allowed Ramsay Générale de Santé to become a pan-European health care operator with 308 facilities, 36,000 employees, and seven million patient attendances,” Mr McNally said.
“Capio is a market leader in the Nordics and has a solid portfolio in France, which will enhance RGdS’s cluster strategy. The company has been a leader in driving value-based health care and digitalisation and has also been at the forefront in the delivery of elective care in specialised clinic settings.”
Ramsay Health Care now delivers both acute and primary health care services in 480 facilities across 11 countries including Australia, France, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Malaysia, Indonesia and Hong Kong.
“This acquisition will allow us to create a leading provider of health care services in Europe. The combined group will be uniquely positioned to leverage Capio’s distinctive strengths and expertise in integrated health care models and digitalisation together with the deep domain experience of RGdS and the global reach of Ramsay Health Care.”
The addition of Capio to the Ramsay Network further consolidates the company’s position as a leading global provider of health care services, with 77,000 employees and 8.5 million patient visits and admissions per year.
