The Kevin Betts ward at Mt Wilga Private is now dedicated to public patients and has already treated 24 patients who had to be moved from Hornsby Hospital earlier this month as the public hospital responds to COVID-19.

Chief Executive Officer Lorrie Mohsen said she was proud of the Mt Wilga team for making this partnership with NSW Health a great success.

“The collaboration between the private and public teams has been excellent and has allowed us to not only care for patients in need, but also help relieve the burden on our community’s public health system at a time when it is needed most,” Ms Mohsen said.

“Our Mt Wilga nurses and allied health team have jumped at this opportunity and the feedback I’ve received is that they’re enjoying the opportunity to learn new clinical skills and look after different patient needs.”

Hornsby Hospital Acting General Manager Simon Hill thanked the Mt Wilga Private Rehabilitation Hospital team for their collaboration during the pandemic.

“The feedback from patients and families, and the staff involved in the transfer care to Mt Wilga hospital has been very positive and we greatly appreciate the support that’s been provided,” Mr Hill said.

Across New South Wales, Ramsay Health Care is continuing to support the pandemic response with 430 team members assisting with Vaccination Hubs, Telehealth, special health accommodation, public hospitals and community health sites.  

A further 250 Ramsay staff in Queensland are volunteering in Vaccination Hubs, while in Victoria a team is assisting the Department of Health and Human Services with contact tracing.
