The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) measure the performance of companies globally using environmental, social and governance criteria.

In 2023, Ramsay is the only hospital business on the Australian list of 54 leading companies and one of only three healthcare companies included.

“It’s wonderful to see Ramsay being recognised as a sustainability leader – a true reflection of all the incredible sustainability ideas and initiatives our teams have developed and implemented,” Ms Monaghan said. 

In November, Ramsay’s Impact Report was released which confirmed the organisation was on track to reach its net zero 2040 greenhouse gas emissions ambition following a successful year of sustainability activities.

The Report shows how the leading private healthcare provider has ramped up renewable energy initiatives, recycling, removing single-use plastic products and phasing out anaesthetic gases with higher global warming potential.

In June 2022, Ramsay committed to net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040, with a near-term target to reduce scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% by 2030.
