Ramsay Pharmacy urges Australians not to delay flu vaccine

April 15, 2021

With an unprecedented focus on the rollout of the nation’s COVID-19 vaccination program, Ramsay Pharmacy is urging Australians not to forget about another important jab: the seasonal influenza vaccine.

Ramsay Pharmacy is reminding people that now is the perfect time to get immunised against the flu, as the federal government recalibrates its COVID-19 vaccination program and we head towards winter.

Ramsay Pharmacy’s General Manager of Operations, Michelle Lynch, said Australian health authorities recommend most people to have their flu vaccination now, before COVID-19 vaccinations are opened up to the general public.

“The reason for this is that flu and COVID-19 shots need to be given at least a fortnight apart so now is a great time to book your flu shot before the COVID-19 vaccine rollout expands further,” Ms Lynch said.

“At Ramsay Pharmacy we’re committed to serving and improving the lives of our communities, so we have more than doubled our number of immunisation-trained pharmacists to make sure we can meet demand for flu vaccines.”

“38 of our Ramsay Pharmacy sites participated in the administration of the flu vaccination program in 2020. We are now expanding to offer this important service in all 59 Ramsay Pharmacy community sites to help protect Australians.”

“Each pharmacist undergoes more than 30 hours of extra training and education, including immunisation workshops, first aid, CPR and anaphylaxis training in order to become an immuniser - so the community can rest assured they are in safe hands with Ramsay Pharmacy,” Ms Lynch said.

Flu vaccination appointments are available now at all Ramsay Pharmacies and Malouf Pharmacies. To book, please visit www.ramsaypharmacy.com.au/Services/flu-vaccinations.

Businesses can also make bookings for their employees through Ramsay Pharmacy’s corporate flu vaccination service by emailing flu@ramsaypharmacy.com.au.
