Ramsay and Bupa expand partnership to deliver more connected care

May 08, 2025

Australia’s largest private hospital operator, Ramsay Health Care, and one of the country’s biggest health insurers, Bupa, have signed a new agreement that strengthens their long-standing partnership and supports more flexible, connected care for patients across Australia.

The agreement ensures continued access to Ramsay’s 76 hospitals for Bupa’s customers. It also invests in new ways of delivering care to support patient recovery after a hospital stay.

Ramsay Health Care Australia CEO Carmel Monaghan said the agreement reflects a shared focus on quality and innovation.

“Our hospitals remain the foundation of our business and we’re proud of the high-quality care Ramsay provides every day,” Ms Monaghan said.

“But recovery doesn’t stop when a patient goes home. Through this partnership with Bupa, we’re offering more follow-up care at home, in the community and online, so people continue to get the support they need in a way that fits their lives.”

The agreement includes piloting expanded out-of-hospital care for eligible patients. These services include:

  • Care at home for conditions such as infections, wound care, chronic illness and palliative care.
  • A new rehabilitation program delivered in the home or virtually after surgery or illness.
  • Structured follow-up care in the community, including a new mental health initiative.

Bupa Health Insurance Managing Director Kate Williams said the partnership highlighted what could be achieved by working together.

“This is about giving our customers more support and care options, whether they are in hospital or recovering at home,” Ms Williams said.

“We are working together to make private health care more accessible and more in tune with how people live today.”
