Clinical Practice:

Dr Sekaran Gana is a Specialist Cardiologist who offers services for both general and imaging cardiology. He has a focus on echocardiography. Dr Gana is committed to providing the fantastic cardiology care and is available to care for your patients presenting with any cardiovascular conditions. Dr Gana regards every consultation as an opportunity to educate patients about cardiovascular disease and its prevention. He works closely with all involved in the patient journey and appreciates that clear communication is vital for best support and care. Dr Gana works to improve communication, maintain safety and optimise patient outcomes by collaborating with primary care physicians and allied health professionals in the patients care.

• Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic - A  weekly clinic where patients will be seen within one week of referral, and if required, Dr Sekaran Gana will aim to perform investigations on the same day which may include stress echocardiogram or CT coronary angiogram.
• 3D Transoesophageal Echocardiogram Tests - Used to improve diagnostic accuracy of valve disease. We provide transoesophageal guidance of structural intervention and electrophysiology procedure.
• Radial Coronary Angiography - Available on site at Hollywood Private Hospital which is very convenient and time saving for the patient. We offer a no out-of-pocket service for inpatient procedures.

Background & Training

After graduating from medical school, Sekaran obtained a PhD from the University of Bern, Switzerland, in which he investigated the genetic and molecular aspect of hypertension. Dr Gana then relocated to Western Australia and completed his basic Physician training at Sir Charles Gairdner, before undertaking his advanced training in cardiology at all three of Perth’s major teaching hospitals. He then undertook a Fellowship in echocardiography at Fiona Stanley Hospital, training in advanced echocardiographic techniques, stress echocardiography and gained experience in transoesophageal guidance of structural intervention and electrophysiology procedures.
