Dr. Vijay Panicker, a Specialist Physician, brings over 15 years of clinical expertise as an Endocrinologist having practiced in both Australia and the UK. Proficiently addressing all facets of endocrinology and diabetes, he possesses a particular focus on thyroid disease, including thyroid cancer. His subspecialty training and extensive experience in this domain underscore his proficiency in managing these conditions with confidence.

He is former Head of the Endocrinology Department at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) where he continues to work in the management of complex cases of Type 1 Diabetes (including diabetes technologies), Type 2 Diabetes, Thyroid disease, Pituitary disease, and Osteoporosis.

He regularly manages endocrine and diabetes problems in inpatients at Hollywood Private Hospital where he is a no gap provider for all health insurers.

He has short wait-list time for outpatient appointments, these can usually be seen within 2 weeks. Please have your referring doctor contact Dr Panicker directly if a more urgent appointment is necessary. Telehealth appointments are available, preferably for follow ups but please contact us if requested for a new case.

Background & Training

Vijay is local UWA graduate who did his specialty training both in Perth and in the United Kingdom (UK). Acknowledging the vital role that research plays in improving clinical outcomes for patients Vijay completed a PhD in the UK and continues to do research in the genetics of thyroid disease and thyroid hormone replacement through SCGH and UWA. He also teaches medical students, junior doctors and endocrinology trainees in endocrinology and medicine to equip the doctors of the future with the skills to manage what are becoming increasingly common conditions.
