Dr. Khateeb specialises in Geriatrics (Care of Elderly). He completed his medical and specialist training in Pakistan, Kuwait, New Zealand and Australia.
He came to Australia in 2005 to join the Academic Geriatric Unit in Medicine (University of Queensland) at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane and has held consultant positions at Prince Charles Hospital and at Royal Brisbane Hospital where he was Director of Clinical Training.
He moved to Gold Coast in 2009 and held a Senior Staff Specialist position at Robina and Gold Coast University Hospitals. He is a visiting Medical Officer at John Flynn Hospital, Pindara Private and Gold Coast Private Hospital.
Dr Khateeb has experience in diagnosis and treatment of cognitive disorders like dementia, acute confusional states like delirium and the management of challenging behaviours.
Dr Khateeb believes in early and comprehensive assessment to promote successful ageing. He practises holistic medicine, focusing not just on one problem, but the whole person with emphasis on quality of life.
He has interests in all aspects of Aged Care including Parkinson’s Disease, Falls, Frailty, chronic pain, poly pharmacy and complex medical disorders.
He has experience in testing mental capacity towards making decisions.
Dr Khateeb consults from his rooms at John Flynn Hospital and Parkwood Clinic regularly visits nursing homes, by arrangement, both in Gold Coast and NSW
