Dr David Sime is a Melbourne and internationally trained consultant orthopaedic surgeon, with an interest in conventional and robotic assisted hip and knee joint replacements; sports knee surgery including arthroscopy and anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. David also has experience in the management of all upper and lower limb fractures and trauma in both adults and children. David completed his medical training in 2009 at the University of New South Wales, where he obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with first class honours. He subsequently studied a Masters of Surgery, graduating with first class honours through the University of Edinburgh in 2015. In 2021, David undertook a fellowship at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh in Scotland. This provided David with further specialist training in complex primary and revision hip and knee replacement, including robotic assisted surgery. In 2022, David completed a prestigious sports knee surgery fellowship at the Fortius Clinic in London, England. Here he worked with Mr Andy Williams, an internationally recognised expert in this field. During his time there, David treated a number of elite players from top level professional sports teams in the English Premier League and Premiership Rugby, as well as Olympic athletes. This experience provided David with subspecialty training in complex anterior cruciate and multi-ligament reconstruction, meniscal and cartilage preservation techniques; as well as enhanced recovery and return to play programmes. David is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Australian Orthopaedic Association. He is actively involved in the training and supervision of junior orthopaedic surgeons, and currently holds a public appointment with Peninsula Health.
