His interest in orthopaedics began the year after graduating from Xavier College, working as an operating theatre technician at Glenferrie Private Hospital. He earned his medical degree with honours from Monash University in 2015, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Surgical Anatomy from the University of Melbourne in 2017, receiving the Sir Edmund Hughes Prize for the highest mark in his cohort. His orthopaedic training commenced as a junior registrar at Linacre Private Hospital in 2018.
Mr O’Bryan became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in February 2024. He pursued subspecialty training under those he respected most; his mentors Chris Jones and Sam Joseph through Melbourne's Bayside Hip & Knee AOA Accredited Fellowship.
Beyond clinical practice, he is actively involved in research. He holds an adjunct academic position at Monash University and hosts The OrthoPodcast, where he interviews experts across various disciplines.

Edward believes in balancing evidence-based treatments with an appropriate adoption of innovations. He keeps abreast of emerging techniques while remaining cautious of the historical pitfalls, where new treatments have largely caused more harms than benefit. His goal is to empower patients with clear, evidence-based information, helping them make informed decisions tailored to their needs.
He offers private practice at Linacre Private Hospital and Ramsay Surgical Centre Glenferrie and holds public appointments at Dandenong and Frankston Hospitals.
