Dr Eva Nagy is an experienced general surgeon with an interest in breast surgery. After obtaining her medical degree from the University of Melbourne, Eva worked as a junior doctor in Melbourne and Singapore. She subsequently began formal training in General Surgery in Sydney, and completed rotations in various hospitals including Royal North Shore Hospital, St. Vincent's Hospital, and Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital. Upon completing her training in General Surgery and becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Eva embarked on sub-specialty training in Breast Surgery. These two years of training saw her receive comprehensive instruction in advanced surgical techniques relevant to breast cancer at the Poche Centre in North Sydney, and at the Nottingham Breast Institute, a class-leading breast cancer treatment centre in the United Kingdom.
While Eva is fully proficient in mastectomies and implant-based reconstruction, her professional interests include the prudent use of breast-conserving surgery for patients where mastectomies are not required, and the use of the patient's tissue flaps for reconstruction where appropriate.
Eva's ongoing research in breast cancer has provided her with opportunities to present her findings in conferences such as the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium, and the Association of Breast Surgery Conference in Glasgow. Her current research explores the feasibility of safely de-escalating treatment protocols for cancer patients.
In addition to her medical degree, Eva has a PhD in Biomedical Science, a Bachelor's Degree (Hons) in Biomedical Science, a Graduate Certificate in Breast Surgery from University of Sydney, and is a full member of Breast Surgeons of Australia and New Zealand (BreastSurgANZ).
