Dr Malinda Itchins underwent her medical oncology training at the University of Tasmania, in her home state, graduating in 2009 with first class honours. She completed her physician training followed by FRACP in Medical Oncology at Royal North Shore Hospital in 2016. In 2017 she enrolled as a Doctor of Philosophy in Medicine through the Bill Walsh Translational Cancer Research Laboratory at the University of Sydney’s Kolling Institute, with the support of the Ilse Schnell Cancer Research Postgraduate Scholarship and NSW Health PhD Scholarship. Her research is in investigating patterns of drug resistance in ALK rearranged non-small cell lung cancer. She is also involved in research in pancreatic cancer.
Malinda’s main areas of interest are in treating thoracic (spinal), gastrointestinal, lung and genitourinary (genital and urinary) cancers. She is an active member of the Australasian Lung Trials Group and is an appointed Visiting Medical Officer at North Shore Private Hospital.
